Family Frolics this Summer in Majorca
Having just about survived Blue Monday (the most depressing day of the year) and being in the middle of the January blues, you could be forgiven for being in a rather unhappy state. So what better way to cheer yourself up than hearing a summer’s holiday guide to Magical Majorca? Britain’s favourite Balearic Island has been welcoming families young and old for more than 50 years, and is sure to welcome more again this summer.
Majorca has it all - great beaches, manmade attractions to thrill and natural attractions to wonder at. But with so much choice on Majorca Holidays, where do you go? Here is a pick of attractions to suit the whole family.
Bike Riding and Beach Hunting with the Family There is often the misconception that Majorca is an Island lacking character and is eyesore. That is not the case! The Tramuntana Mountain Range in the north of the island is the perfect example of Majorca’s natural beauty, and was recently awarded with UNESCO World Heritage Status. The north eastern tip of Majorca, where the Tramuntana Mountains lie, is a lot quieter than the south of the Island and this give families the perfect opportunity to explore and spend some quality time together. Fully recommended is renting bicycles for the family and riding your way through the coastline for a day of exploration. Along this stretch of coastline are some magnificent view points of the Mediterranean Sea and some lovely natural beaches to stop off at. Top of that list are the beaches in around the area of Alcudia, visit the family friendly beach of Alcanada that has shallow waters and a laid back atmosphere that are perfect for a day at the beach.
More Information: Visit www.wheelssport.net who are based in Alcudia and offer bicycles for the whole family, including tandem and electronic bicycles.
Water Fun for the Small and Big Kids in the Family For a fun packed family holiday there must be a trip to a water park, and with Majorca having three amazing water parks there is plenty of choice. The Western Water Park in Magaluf is perfect for the whole family, from the little kids all the way up to the big ones! For the little explorers there is the Kid’s Waterland which is aimed at providing safe fun for children up to the age of five. For slightly bigger children there is Tijuana Twins that are relaxing slides. For the thrill seekers in your family there is the Beast, which consists of a 30 metre drop and an almighty splash. Hold onto your trunks. Lastly there is the Mega Slide which will keep the whole family smiling, everyone can jump into an extra-large dinghy and share a fun ride down the 260 metre slide.

Amazing Aquatics and Wildlife Shows Marineland in the west of Majorca is an awe inspiring day out for the whole family. The facility features a fantastic selection of shows, sealife and attractions. Top of the sea life displays are the dolphin and sea lion shows that appear twice daily. The dolphin show in particular has been voted amongst the best in the world, and includes an underwater tunnel so visitors can witness the dolphins from all angles. Both shows are performed twice daily, so to visit both you will need to see the shows alternatively in the morning or afternoon. There are also two aquariums to see, a must see is the Seven Seas Aquarium that includes hundreds of species and the rather dominant sharks. Lastly there are the cute waddling penguins to watch, these wonderful creatures are always likely to raise a smile and some comforting ‘arrhhhs’.
