HOLIDAYS TO SUIT ALL AGES
Going on holiday with your extended family can sometimes be more stressful then you’d hope it to be. It’s never easy to please everyone, keeping younger children entertained, teenagers occupied and ensuring Grandparents aren’t left feeling like they are there just to babysit!
There are ways to make your longed-for week in the sun as relaxing as possible and keep everyone happy and entertained.
Kids Club / Kids Care Kids clubs are a great way to entertain children and give Mum and Dad a chance to relax. Many resorts provide expert childcare with qualified, English nannies, babysitting services and crèche facilities; allowing parents to rest assured that their children are in safe hands and enjoy the resort activities themselves. Family holidays usually include a range of kids club activities for children free of charge. Activities such as snorkling, waterpolo, volleyball, table tennis, kyaking and circus tricks are just a few of the fun activities on offer.
Sailing for grandparents Sailing is the perfect way to experience the tranquillity and freedom of the water. So after the children check-in to kids club it's time for the grandparents to set sail and get out onto the ocean. Learning to sail couldn't be easier with Royal Yachting Association (RYA) qualified instructors at many beaches and the very best equipment at your disposal. To join the right group for you, simply come along to a briefing at the start of your holiday. The Beginner sailing clinics aim to get novice sailors out on the water in their own dinghy as quickly as possible. Refresher clinics are for those who have sailed before but would like to recap on the skills they have learnt.
Tennis for parents Mums and Dads wanting to improve your technique or just enjoy the occasional game of tennis there are lots of great beach resorts which have first class tennis facilities and English speaking instructors. Whatever level tennis you play at, the experienced tennis instructors can help you to improve through group or one-to-one private tuition. Resort tennis courts are normally free and will provide racquets and balls for you to use. As tennis is very popular it is advisable to book a court in advance. For those looking to play some social tennis, why not arrange a friendly weekly tournament with other guests.
Kite surfing for young adults Young adults will love the excitement of this extreme sport - for sheer exhilaration, nothing beats being out on the water! If you want to learn the basics or sharpen up your skills a BKSA (British Kite Surfing Association) course is a fast way to do this. Again courses can either been booked through group or one to one tuition. San Agostino beach resort in Egypt is a great place to kite surf as conditions are ideal for people learning and trying to qualify for a BKSA Level 1 qualification. To help you get to grips with the sport the resort gives you a one hour land based 'power kiting session' for free.
Holiday suggestion Resort-based holidays are a great for allowing you to try different activities which you may not do at home, such as sailing and windsurfing. One great example is at the Select Maris Beach Resort hotel in Turkey. It’s set in the Datca Peninsula region which offers some hilly areas to explore and secret coves to discover and is a real luxury retreat. With a boutique-style feel, this can be a great place to stay as it has all the latest modern gym equipment, spa treatments, watersports and tennis courses. It is a very private place too as there are five secluded beaches and four only accessible by a short speed boat ride across the bay! For more information on activity holidays you can visit a specialist tour operator such as Mark Warner, www.markwarner.co.uk who have holidays in Turkey, Sardinia, Portugal, Corsica, The Algarve and Greece.
