Notorious Navvies at Fort Nelson at Royal Armouries Fort Nelson

20th - 24th February 2017

Overview

Head to the Royal Armouries at Fort Nelson this half term and find out about the people who built Fort Nelson – the navvies. There will be tonnes of fun for the kids with ‘navvy challenges’ and traditional Victorian crafts, plus you can find out all about the work of Florence Nightingale.

Junior Navvie Challenge

Teams of young navvies will explore the Fort with our very own ‘19th-century navvy’ Bill, who will show them some of the incredible construction features of Fort Nelson. Then the hard work begins and the apprentices will have a go at wheelbarrow races, constructing keystone arches and loads more. But will they earn their pay?
