Go Ape - A great family day out!
Go Ape are the specialists in tree top adventure courses, with 33 locations across the UK. Offering a range of outdoor experiences and activities from zip wires through super-springy trampoline nets to off-road Segways, there’s something to suit the whole family. Tree Top Adventure
Go Ape’s signature high ropes courses are full of exciting zip wires, unique crossings, challenging ropes and thrilling swings, all set at heights of up to 30 metres. You’ll spend 2-3 hours navigating the course, with plenty of help from experienced instructors.
Tree Top Junior
Designed for the whole family and suitable for anyone over 1m (3ft 3in) in height, the tree top junior course is a fun filled hour of wobbly bridges, intricate crossings and an awesome zip wire finale.
Take an hour-long Segway adventure on heavy duty all-terrain Segway through stunning off-road trails. You’ll have full training and off-road Segway introduction before you set off to explore the beautiful forests Go Ape centres are located in.
Currently available at Temple Newsam, Leeds and Alexandra Palace, London, Park Adventure features custom-built aerial platforms and a range of crossings. There are three levels, with differing heights and difficulties. Level One is suitable for youngsters over 1m tall, Level Two for those over 1.2m and Level Three for adults and those over 1.4m.
Find this great alternative to indoor play centres at Black Park Country Park and Sherwood Pines. Featuring fully enclosed netted walkways, tree houses, tree top nets full of inflatable balls and slides to get you back to the ground, this is fun for all the family and suitable for kids aged 1+.
Zip Trekking Adventure
This fantastic zip wire experience is currently available at Grizedale Forest in the heart of the Lake District. Blast uphill in a 4x4 before flying across seven forest ziplines totalling an amazing 3km. You can even race the person next to you!
Just an hour from Glasgow, Aberfoyle is home to two of the longest zip wires in the UK. Adrenalin junkies will love flying over 400 metres at heights of up to 46 metres above the ground. There’s also a fantastic tree top high ropes course, with a range of obstacles and crossings to master. Why not make a day of it and take on the nearby hills of Ben A’An, Ben Venue or Ben Lomond? Set in the majestic grounds of a 16thcentury castle, Crathes Castle is just 40 minutes from Aberdeen and is Go Ape’s most northerly location. Explore the high ropes course with its speedy zip wires and unforgettable Tarzan swings or try your hand on the skateboard zip line. Peebles - Glentress Forest
Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Tweed Valley, Glentress Forest has Go Ape’s highest zip wire at 160ft high and 300 metres long. The course has varying levels of difficulty and lots of optional routes through the high ropes. You can carry on afterwards with a ride along one of the forest’s mountain bike trails or visit the Tweed Valley Wild Watch Centre. More info here.
The stunning North Yorkshire Moors Park is the setting for the Dalby Forest Go Ape centre. You’ll find a heart-racing adult ropes course and a separate junior course. There’s also a challenging Forest Segway course, set in beautiful surroundings. And, to really wear the little ones out you can let them loose on the adventure playground afterwards. More info here.
Located near Chester, Delamere Forest is home to both adult and junior Tree Top courses as well as a fantastic Forest Segway course. There’s an onsite café to warm up in afterwards or you can hire a bike to explore the mountain bike trails. If the kids still have the energy you can climb the nearby 176 metre Old Pake Hill. Set in the heart of the Lake District National Park, Grizedale Forest is home to both adult and junior high rope courses. Fly zip-to-zip over 3km on the Zip Trekking Adventure or whizz through the forest on the all-terrain Segways. Afterwards you can explore the beautiful Sculpture Trail or track down the Highway Rat on the Forestry Commission’s activity trail. More info here.
Just 15 minutes outside Newcastle you’ll find Matfen Hall and its adventurous Tree Top adventure course. Set 30ft high in the treetops its complete with huge Tarzan swings and super-speedy zip wires. There’s also an onsite golf course and a nearby spa to relax in. More info here.
Lincolnshire’s Normanby Hall has both an adult and junior high ropes course, complete with zip wires, Tarzan swings, rope ladders and high crossings. After you’ve finished the course you can stroll to the café for refreshments before visiting the hall and farming museum. More info here.
Rivington is the only Go Ape with a zip wire over water! Soar over the reservoir on the fantastic Tree Top adventure course, which is located near to both Bolton and Manchester. To make a day of things you can hike to the top of Rivington Pike or discover the beautiful Japanese terraced gardens. More info here.
Temple Newsam has a ‘Park Adventure’ course, with 3 different levels so that you can design your own fun in the trees. The course is located in beautiful woodland, close to the visitor attraction of Temple Newsam House. Whinlatter is home to two fantastic outdoor experiences – a challenging Tree Top adventure course and a Forest Segway experience. This beautiful Peak District course is home to a fantastic high ropes course, complete with high speed zips, daring crossings and one of the biggest Tarzan swing drops! In the heart of Staffordshire’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Cannock Chase has a thrilling Tree Top course; complete with high-speed parallel zip wires as well as a Tree Top Junior course and Forest Segway experience. Just a few miles from Robin Hood country and not far from Nottingham, Sherwood Pines is home to a brand new Nets Kingdom – guaranteed to be a huge hit with the kids! There’s also both an adults and junior high ropes course, as well as Forest Segway. You can also try your hand at a bushcraft workshop, or let the kids burn off more energy in the playground. Wyre Forest in Worcestershire is home to an epic Tree Top course, as well as a Tree Top Juniors course. Set 14 metres above the ground, atop giant Douglas Fir trees, the course includes zip wires 160 metres in length! Set in-between Cardiff and Swansea, Margam is Go Ape’s only Welsh centre with a fantastic Tree Tops course complete with the UK’s biggest Tarzan swing. With spectacular sea views and set in 1000 acres of parkland, Margam is a great day out. Make a day of things by taking a ride on a traditional locomotive train or exploring Margam Castle. Experience the beautiful South Downs at Alice Holt’s high ropes courses for adults and kids. Scale trees at heights up to 14 metres and fly along the 126 metre zip line. Bedgebury in Kent is home to a magnificent Tree Top Adventure course, as well as a separate Tree Top Junior course. Black Park, on the border of Buckinghamshire and Berkshire, has everything a family could need for an epic day out. There’s a Tree Top Adventure course as well as a Junior course, along with Forest Segway and a brand new Nets Kingdom. Spend the day exploring the Tree Top Adventure course, or Tree Top Juniors with the kids near Maidstone in Kent. Boasting a 250m zip line and a highest point of 13m, you’ll have stunning views of the countryside and beautiful Leeds Castle. Only 10 miles from Bournemouth and its lovely beaches, Moors Valley Country Park & Forest is home to both an adults and juniors high rope course, as well as the ever popular Forest Segway. Itchen Valley - Southampton
Itchen Valley County Park has been home to impressive Tree Top Adventure and Tree Top Juniors high rope courses since 2011. There are plenty of thrills to be had on the epic Tarzan Swing, alongside the exciting 180m zip wire. There’s a lovely café onsite, or why not take a relaxing ride on the nearby mini steam railway? The very first Go Ape adventure opened in Thetford in 2002. The adults and juniors high rope courses are set in 50000 acres of stunning pine forest, with a fantastic mix of zip wires, Tarzan Swings and high rope paths to try your hand at. Tilgate Park - Crawley
Go Ape Crawley is home to the duo of Tree Top Adventure and Tree Top Junior. With plenty of rapid zip wires, high ropes, tunnels and more, you’re sure of an adventurous day out. You can hire a boat and explore Campbell’s lake, or enjoy some of the beautiful walking routes in the area. More info here.
On the edge of the Chiltern Hills lies Wendover Woods, home to both an adult and junior high ropes course. Wendover has a vast array of crossings, zip wires and a fantastic climbing wall to keep everyone busy. The Tree Top Adventure course at Woburn has a backdrop like no other – Woburn Safari Park. See if you can spot the elephants as you climb the trees and traverse the crossings! There’s an epic Tarzan Swing and zip wires 156m in length! It’s almost ubiquitous to double up your trip with a visit to the Safari Park – you can even get a discount on entry when you book Go Ape. Just down the road from the iconic ‘Ally Pally’, you’ll find Park Adventure (Level 3) and Tree Top Juniors, offering the perfect day out for the whole family. Park Adventure includes a 46ft Plummet, high-speed zips and free-fall Tarzan Swings. With fantastic views over the Thames, Battersea Park is home to both an adults and juniors course. The highest platform is over 13m tall, meaning you’ll get wonderful views of the city as you tackle the challenging obstacles. Just a short distance from Chessington World of Adventures Theme Park, you’ll find both an adult and junior high ropes course waiting for the family to explore. The whooping four person zip wire is not to be missed! Afterwards, continue the adrenaline rush at the famous theme park, or simply enjoy some food at the nearby café. More info here.
Just 35 minutes from Central London, Cockfosters is home to an epic Tree Top Adventure course, with the highest platform at a staggering 16m. The course is set in 413 acres of ancient woodlands and meadows, with plenty of bike and walking trails to explore. Forest of Dean
You’ll find three of Go Ape’s adventure courses across two sites at the Forest of Dean. So choose from either Mallards Pike or Beechenhurst Lodge, depending on what you’re after. More info here.
Head to Mallards Pike to explore the fantastic Tree Top Adventure course, complete with zip wires up to 180m in length and a highest platform of 15m. Or why not take a spin round the stunning countryside on a Forest Segway? Go from the tree tops to exploring the caves directly underneath, or discover the activities inside the three giant local maize mazes.
Just a few miles down the road from Mallards Pike is Beechenhurst Lodge, home to a fantastic Tree Top Juniors course. Kids will love the exciting crossings, high platforms and the exhilarating two zip wires to finish with! And if that hasn’t tired them out, you can hire a canoe locally to explore the waters of the Wye Valley.
Set in 3500 acres of woodland, with spectacular views over Dartmoor National Park, Haldon Forest Park is only 15 minutes from Exeter. With a fantastic Tree Top Adventure course and Tree Top Juniors course, the whole family will love flying 230m down zip wires and braving the free-fall Tarzan Swings.
