Go Ape Dalby Forest


In easy reach of Teesside, Go Ape specialise in treetop adrenaline courses, with high ropes, canopy exploring and zip wires galore! Their Dalby Forest venue includes a Junior Treetop course, which is suitable for all children over 1m in height. There’s also a full size adult course and forest segways. Situated on the southern hills of the North York Moors National Park, you’re close to miles of walking and biking trails, along with beautiful Staindale Lake meaning there are lots of options for a whole day out with the family.

Tees Barrage White Water Centre

Situated near Stockton-on-Tees, the Teesside White Water Centre offers fun packed days out for families. They offer family experiences in vessels for groups including 10-13 year olds or, if you can get together 8–10 people, you can take children as young as 8 years old bell boating in long vessels where you all paddle together. Over 14s can tackle the full adult course. There’s also a flat water canoeing facility where you can paddle about gently and sailing and power boating are also available. There’s a restaurant onsite and wetsuits and all technical equipment related to the activities are provided.

Newham Grange Farm

Newham Grange Farm, near Middlesbrough, is the perfect day out for families with kids of all ages. You can meet the beautiful llamas, horses, goats and pigs or visit the petting barn to get up close with adorable rabbits, lambs and guinea pigs. Little ones will enjoy a ride on the mini tractors, trying their hand at crazy golf or getting lost in the maze. There’s a fantastic outdoor play area and an indoor play area is coming soon! You’ll find a restaurant onsite, as well as attractive picnic areas and there’s a nature trail running around the outside of the farm.

Hollywood Bowl is kid-friendly – equipped with bumper lanes and ramps to help the smaller members of the family enjoy their day out. There are a whooping 26 lanes to bowl on, or for a little extra you can upgrade to a VIP lane with waitress service and lots of sumptuous little touches. You’ll also find an amusements area with classic arcade games and pool tables. Dorman Museum


There’s plenty to see and do at the Dorman Museum in Middlesbrough, with 8 permanent galleries and 2 temporary ones. The museum is full of weird and wonderful curiosities, such as the Nelson Room which contains a huge egg collection! The H2O gallery on the upper floor has been set up with children in mind and contains lots of hands-on activities. There’s also an ‘art cart’ with free arts and crafts materials so the kids can create their own masterpieces! During school holidays and on some weekends there are also craft based workshops.

Noah’s Ark in Thornaby on Tees is a fantastic venue with an amazing 3 level indoor adventure soft play structure – guaranteed to keep the kids busy for hours! There’s also a large outdoor play area for when the weather is playing ball and a family activity room with arts, crafts, role-play, construction corners and plenty of books to read. Parents will be delighted to find the onsite café, where they can enjoy a well earned cup of coffee while the kids burn off some steam!

Tweddle Children’s Animal Farm

Tweddle’s is all about the kids, with a variety of animals and activities to keep them busy all day. Meet the giant rabbits, horses, sheep, ponies, llamas and birds, or visit the baby barn to meet adorable calves, piglets, chicks and lambs and perhaps get a chance to bottle-feed them. There’s also a small animal barn and petting centre. After you’ve met all the animals the kids can have a go on the go-kart track, ride on a digger or try their hand at crazy golf. There’s also indoor and outdoor playgrounds as well as a tearoom serving up tasty food and drinks. You'll find Tweddle's in Blackhall Colliery, just up the road from Hartlepool.

Air Trail in Stockton on Tees is a huge high ropes course, with over 40 different challenges to keep you and the family busy all day. There are 4 different levels to suit those of all abilities and an additional ‘Air Tykes’ course for the smallest members of the family with short sessions lasting 20 minutes.
