12,000 Years of Combat at Arundel Castle

Who would win between a Roman gladiator and a Norman knight? Find out as Arundel Castle enters a time warp this August bank holiday! Eras from the Stone Age to the Victorians will face each other for the ultimate who-would-win showdown.

A wide range of living history groups, historical interpreters and experts make this historical extravaganza possible. Visitors will see 12,000 years of history play out before their eyes and watch as the warriors of the past take each other on in combat.

With falconry, medieval artillery and more, this year’s event promises to be unmissable.

10am Castle and event opens, weapons training main arena

11am Bows and guns demonstration

11.30am Saxons, Normans and medieval knights

12pm Falconry

1pm Roman gladiators

2pm Medieval artillery demonstration

2.30pm Falconry

3pm Walk Through History followed by the Grand Melee (a fight to the last historical person standing!)

4.30pm Event close

Have-a-go archery suitable for over 8s only, height restrictions may apply.

NOTE: There will be loud noise and the sound of cannon fire.
