Barnard Castle

The town’s name comes from Bernard Baliol, who built the castle in 1125. The castle clings to the steep banks of the Tees and is now a ruin, but it still has a 12th century keep, and the remains of a 14th century hall. Inclusive audio tour. Dogs permitted
