The Covent Garden district of London is a bewildering mix of independent boutiques, luxury hotels, renowned theatres, independent restaurants, cafés, bars & pubs, & stalls selling street food from a variety of cultures. There are also grand and opulent buildings, splendid statues and reminders of ancient London all around, joined together by historic streets with unique and distinctive characters. Finally, there’s Covent Garden Market itself, with its glorious piazza and a wealth of street performers at its beating heart.
Walk 1: Seven Dials to Covent Garden Market (1.5 miles)
From an intriguing network of seven atmospheric streets joined at the unique Seven Dials, this walk wends its way to Covent Garden via an eclectic mix of independent boutiques, luxury hotels, famous theatres, independent restaurants, cafés, bars and pubs, and stalls selling street food from a variety of countries. Marvel too at the Royal Opera House and ancient churches, then end your walk at the amazing Covent Garden Market and its vibrant piazza.
Walk 2: Covent Garden to Somerset House (1 mile)
Starting at Covent Garden Market, amidst its myriad of street performers, this walk explores historic streets with unique character, along the Strand and down to the Embankment. Next pass some grand and opulent offices, hotels and theatres, past the London Transport Museum to Aldwych and from there down to Somerset House, an iconic neo-classical building set around one of the most beautiful courtyards in Europe.
The first walk is buggy and wheelchair friendly.
