Short break at Hoseasons Sherwood Castle Holiday F

By Luke Tarplin, dated 11th June, 2017

We stayed at Sherwood Castle Holiday Forest in June 2017 and the park is set in an intriguing location in Nottinghamshire. The accomodation is various sized wooden cabins set in a wooded area (although some cabins were not in the the woods themselves). Our cabin was clean but basic, to be honest we didn't have high expectations given the price (We managed to get a good discount purchasing through What to do with the kids website).

The facilities and activities on site were good even if a little overpriced for some of them.... an example being £5 for disc golf and badminton from £5. While that doesn't seem much you are only hiring the equipment, I would expect a deposit that you get back after returning the equipment. The activities are very fun and I would recomment to Book activities before 11am for 10% discount.

While on site we made use of the free swimming pool, which I would recommend doing first thing in the morining if you like it quite. There is a limit of 30 people in the pool at a time but i can imagine that would be quite crowded. As it was we were the only people in there for most of the time and got a good 45 mins in the pool. The water was cold though, it could do with being a couple of degrees warmer.

We also did the family archery which was brilliant! The instructor was amazing and we had a really good time. It was £7pp for an hour and worth every penny. There was a fun competition between the kids and adults, which brought a great atmosphere. Safety was the instructors number 1 priority however this was done in a fun way.

Being a cabin in the woods you do notice the bird life wake up early in the morning, which meant that we were woken up fairly early. Also there are the sound of bird scarers going off in the background, which again you notice in the morning and throughout the day. I would recommend getting some firewood for the log burners as the cabins can get cold in the morning and evenings.
